| Introduction
The link manager is a critical tool for setting up links between
sites. The link manager allows you to enter the details of other
websites that you would like to link to and displays the link
as part of a link directory on your website.
Requesting a link exchange
When you add a link to another website, you can also choose to
send an email to the owner of that website asking him or her to
create a reciprocal link by linking back to you.
The link manager comes preset with an email template which is
the default email you send to the owner of the site you wish to
exchange links with. You can change the templates in the link
manager setup. When you add a new link to the link manager, the
template (default email) is displayed. You can change the email
if you wish and then send it off.
Link exchange requests from other sites
The link directory on your site also includes an option for the
webmasters of other sites to request links from you. First, they
will be asked to install a link on their site to you. Then they
will be asked to enter their contact details, and the details
of their website. When they submit the link request, it will be
added to the database pending your approval.
When you receive a link exchange request, you can check their
site to make sure that they have linked to you and to see if you
actually want to link to them. You can then choose to approve
the link or delete it.
When you accept or decline an incoming link exchange request,
you also have the option of sending an email to the site owner
to let him or her know what decision you have made. The link manager
has email templates for the ‘Accepted’ and ‘Declined’
emails which you can change in the link manager setup.
